PRODUCTS AND PROCESSES FOR INCREASED SUSTAINABILITY
HOW WE IMPLEMENT
Since we develop our products and most of the production facilities ourselves, we can take resource-saving aspects into account right from the start. We can also influence components and procedures in the production process down to the smallest detail. This enables an above-average vertical range of manufacturing of more than 90%.
Since we exclusively produce in Europe, product components are not transported around the globe. Our logistics center for finished products near Stuttgart is located in the center of Europe. This reduces transport distances to a minimum.
We adapt our buildings to the current energy recommendations and new buildings are constructed accordingly. The photovoltaic system on our logistics center, for example, saves about 59 tons of CO2 per year.
WASTE REDUCTION AND RECYCLING
Almost all residual plastic materials that arise during production are granulated by us and fed back into the production process. As early as the development stage, we consider the use of materials and processes that allow this approach.
Wherever possible, we use paper and cardboard packaging for our products, both of which have a high recycling percentage. However, since most of our products are worn on the face, in some cases we cannot completely remove plastic packaging for hygiene reasons. For these products, we only use materials such as PP and PE, which can be easily recycled.
REUSABLE PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT
"Choose to reuse!" - is our initiative to actively promote the use of reusable personal protective equipment. For many years now, we have been offering personal protective equipment in our product range that can be reused according to the standard approval. With the large-scale market launch of our improved Air Plus ProValve FFP mask with matching storage case we have given this product area even more emphasis. A washable full-face seal and our AirWave® long life pleated filter make these dust masks reusable without compromising on safety and hygiene. This avoids waste and helps to reduce overall costs.
SUBSTANCES AND PVC
All Moldex products are free of substances that are dangerous or hazardous to health So, none of our materials must be registered under the EU directive REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals). Removing the toxic salt chromium VI from all gas filters is just one example. Some manufacturers still use this substance to capture certain gases.
As part of our ecological responsibility, all Moldex products and packaging have been 100% free of PVC and the plasticisers that are used in this material since 2008. PVC is a durable, inexpensive plastic and is ideal for products with a very long life span, but is, in our opinion, not suitable for personal protective equipment products.
